Born in Nantes in 1980, Baptiste Laurent has been a resident visual artist in Spain since 2007. He has exhibited at various art and cultural institutions, including the Institut français de Madrid, Esquina Nua, Espacio Seara, Palais de Tokyo, Gazzambo Gallery, Alliance Française, Museo Nacional de Antropología, Galeria LaCaja and Galeria FL.

He developed his artistic practice as a self-taught artist, in parallel with his studies in political science and art history.

His traditional medium is painting, but he also works in sculpture and develops projects with a strong literary, social and anthropological component.

In his recent publications and exhibitions, “Conversaciones y Puñetazos”, “Mauvaises Tournures”, “Bajo el mismo mar” and “Exit”, he has experimented with creative work in collaboration with other visual artists and literary authors.

He is an anti-academic, eclectic artist who enjoys syncretism of pictorial styles, vacillating between neo-figurative narrative, graphic painting, urban art and expressionist abstraction.

Founder of the “Latolier” shared studio in Madrid’s Usera district, he leads a dynamic community of Spanish and international visual artists.
